Thanks OP.  In for one.

Yes, quite salty, but . . . appears to be sugar and fat free.  Excellent price for a marinade (chicken, ribs, veggies, etc.).

1. Watch out Fools!!!!

Scroll through the photos to the ingredients list.

Sodium Benzonate - Cancer!
And, brewing starter?!

Soy sauce should only consist of water, soy beans, salt, and at most wheat. Anything else is cheapened, fake soy sauce made of chemicals and ingredients you don't want to eat!

Eg. Here's horror inspiring Lee Kum Kee ingredients:

Water, salt, soybean, sugar, wheat flour, sodium benzoate added as a preservative, disodium 5-inosinate and disodium 5-guanylate as flavor enhancers.

2. Yes, the chemically preserved Lee Kum Kee can sit for months, if not years, but realistically, you're looking at <90 day shelf life after opening regular soy sauce for the best taste and quality.

3. There are lower sodium soy sauces, as well as other brands like Kimlan from Taiwan that are not as salty tasting.
