Canon is bundling outdated lenses to move them faster? 50mm f/1.4 is long overdue for an update and 17-40mm has been more or less replaced with 16-35mm f/4 IS. 

The 17-40mm is really nice, though.

Good deal. In 2006 I paid same price. $600 for 17-40 and $250 for 50mm.

Sold both and replaced with 16-35 and 85mm f/1.2
