This is only for 1 battery, not a pack.  Please correct the title.

A battery is a group of cells wired together.  This is a cell pack, not a battery pack.  The title is wrong.

You have to be really careful when charging lithium cells because they can't be overcharged at all or they'll form bits of solid lithium metal and can burn or explode.  That's why there's no such thing as trickle charging lithiums; the chargers shut off 100% when they detect full charge.

You have to be careful even when discharging lithium cells and not let any drop too low in voltage.  To prevent that, some lithium batteries include electronics that disconnect the battery when the battery voltage drops too low.

Basically if you're going to charge lithium cells, use a lithium charging chip.  Maxim Integrated makes some of those chips and provides good information about charging lithiums.

On the other hand it would be pretty easy and safe to use nicad or NiMH cells.

Thanks @larrymoencurly
Ive been charging Nimh batteries and they never fill to the max, there's no lack of sunshine. The battery pack belongs to a Black and Decker 12v outdoor equipment setup.

My she'd has no other power source.

The batteries I use are old and inefficient, so if anyone knows an alternative to deep cycle batteries let me know.
