This is the same router Sprint is giving away free,  I liked my Sprint one with Merlin flashed so much I ordered this one.  Bye, bye DD-WRT Merlin is less difficult to configure.

Does anyone know which (non=Tmobile) model this is? 66u (or 66u B1)?

Trying to find which Merlin firmware to load.

er, it is exactly what it says on the tin.   I have the RT-AC68R myself running Merlin.  (mine supports AC1900, but otherwise is similar) RT-AC1750

  • RT-AC1750 (use the RT-AC66U firmware)

  I read that the 66 B1 uses 68U firmware, I hope this is B1

er, this topic is about the AC-1750 so that statement from the Merlin home page should be accurate.  Use the basic AC66 firmware.

From the sound of it the two versions are mostly similar, and use similar Broadcom modems.  Most likely the only difference is tweaks, so at worst it will just fail to load.

This is just my opinion..I stay away from refurbished products when it comes to critical computer subsystems like routers, motherboards, hard drives, memory. Past experience showed me that these products were often tested by the manufacturer with "no fault found" and then resold. However, there can be an intermittent fault or a fault that only occurs in certain circumstances and you don't want to lose your precious data or time trying to debug the problem and/or return the product. I will buy refurbished non-critical items like keyboards, mouse, audio systems, ..
