SUGGESTION: [Subscribe To Topic] *OR* [Unsubscribe From Topic]

With all the changes that have been taking place here recently, would it be possible to "improve" (IMO) the way SUBSCRIBE operates?

I'd like to suggest changing the current FIXED display to a DYNAMIC one, reading the User's record and displaying the appropriate new field. This would cut down on the bandwidth wasted when someone clicks on [Subscribe To Topic] when they ALREADY are, and would eliminate the (unpleasant) visual search through the LIST when attempting to [Unsubscribe From Topic].

Thank you for considering this suggestion... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border=0>

I worked it out™

That will cut down on unnecessary "Re-subscribing". While testing it out, I noticed that you pre-filled the appropriate box for the thread. Continuing with the "saving bandwidth" theme, would it be possible to:
  1. Apply the COMPLETE ACTION of the Unsubscribe button on the <h t t p://> screen, right there from the [Unsubscribe From Topic] LINK *without* transferring to the new screen? The checkbox is already filled in, so all that remains is to execute the function assigned to the Unsubscribe button.

*OR*(as an interim "fix" (or if #1 is too involved)

  2. Add a second Unsubscribe button at the TOP of the <h t t p://> screen, the same as the Subscribe button the first pass through, to avoid having to scroll to the bottom of the screen? ...and would eliminate the (unpleasant) visual search through the LIST when attempting to [Unsubscribe From Topic].

IMO, there's no need to actually GO to the Subscribe/Unsubscribe screen unless one plans to change the status of SEVERAL Subscribed threads. And, if that is the user's desire, they can always use the Subscriptions LINK on the FORUMS page <h t t p://>, or the today LINK in the toolbar of every forum.
