We should have much higher rates soon looking at the bond market

I guess I will only get .58%

The official name for this account is Money Market Special 3.  Back in May, they had Money Market Special 2 at 1.08%. If rates go up, I suspect that they will have a Money Market Special 4 account at the higher rate.  The Special 3 account may stay at 1.25%, or go down.  Who knows?  They don't show the rates for the older accounts on their website.  I have no desire to deal with a bank that plays games like this.

popular direct has 1.26% and is a much more well known financial institution in case people want another option. no tiers either...

Popular Community Bank is also offering 1.26% and guarantees it for 6 months...

I agree!  The bank name looks weird when you pull it up & it states RATES MAY CHANGE.  I think (for now) I'll stick with Alliant CU, 1% interest & its liquid.

I tried to open an account.  I got all the way through until it came to the funding.  I called the # listed & found out they are closed weekends.  1.26% interest for 6 months sounds good.  I'll try again Monday.

populardirect application is a hard hit though

Although owned by the same parent company, the deal I was referencing is Popular Community Bank (ie NOT Popular Direct)

  Mine was a hard pull.

I setup Popular Direct as a transfer account at my Alliant Credit Union account and pushed the money over.

I completed the online application.   This acct requires $10K minimum opening.  This is a Money Mkt Acct,  guaranteed 1.26% for 6 months.   I'm transferring funds from Alliant CU which pays 1%.  Small gain but if rates increase sooner than the 6 months, I will close the acct.

I've had an EBSBDirect MMA for several years (since before they started calling it "Special N") Each time they rename it they assign the new terms to my account. I don't remember what I was originally earning, it was better, then worse, and now better again. They also used to charge a fee if you went below $5k. One nice thing is they are a DIF member, so account balances are insured in full (above the $250k FDIC limit) And since it wasn't mentioned upthread, EBSBDirect is an online-only service from East Boston Savings Bank, they'll charge a fee if you use one of their branches.

I have changed my mind!!  Instead of leaving $10K in this account 1.26%, I'm going to put money into the Andrews FCU 3.01% 3Mo CD.  Only ties money for 3 months at a good rate.

I reside in CA and after establishing this account, i was informed that i need to reside in certain states? So, my account is not able to be opened. Anyone else experience this?

rated:
I'm also in CA. Yes, I wondered why the account never opened. Now I'm glad because why leave $10K for 6 mo at 1.26%?

rated:
I am confused. I am a CA resident. Can I open this account (popular direct 1.26%)? And what about EBSBdirect - 1.25% Money Market?
