Recently I read on the forum that you can use your Prepaid GC to send money to your DW and vice versa and then transfer the funds to the linked bank account.
Next day, me and my DW received an email from Venmo that our accounts are frozen and asked us to send a copy of DL for ID verification.
However, next day they sent me and my DW this email:
Venmo said: Thank you for getting in touch with Venmo. My name is Lori, and I'm an Account Specialist at Venmo. Your case was escalated to me. There appears to have been an issue processing the payment you received, and therefore we were unable to credit your account or complete your bank transfer. We recommend getting in touch with your transactor for details since we have no additional information we can provide about their funding sources. Additionally, while we encourage the use of Venmo, we must ensure all users abide by our User Agreement. After reviewing your inquiries and account(s) activity, we have found that your actions and activity have been in violation of this agreement. As a result, your account has been permanently deactivated and we regret to inform you that we can no longer offer you the Venmo service. We do not make these decisions lightly, and when we do, it is because we must ensure that Venmo continues to be a safe way to make payments. Please be aware that any future contact or inquiries will not be answered and that this matter will be considered closed upon your receipt of this email. Lori V. Account Specialist | Venmo

I know we did something stupid but what is the recourse since Venmo clearly doesn't even want to respond to discuss it any further.
Is there any way to get our $400 ($200+$200) back which were in the process of being transferred to our respective banks?
Can they just take $400 and just walk away?

Thank you for reading but if you don't have anything constructive to say then please move on to next thread.

They can't just take your money, they have to return it eventually. If it doesn't reappear on the GCs, you can try CFPB, then small claims.

What is DW?

DW -> Dear Wife (?)

They're saying your prepaid card was either never charged, or charged then refunded.  If the funds arent restored on your card(s) by the end of the week, then contact Venmo again - you arent inquiring about your account status (which is what they wont discuss further), you are just looking for your money.  But if they still dont respond, then you file a CFPB complaint.

Again, keep it focused - you sent money, and it wasnt received or returned.  Period.

What's the dear about? Why not simply, wife.

If you include the shift key, takes 3 keystrokes for DW, and 4 for wife

So obviously it's for the tremendous increase in efficiency

DW, DH, DD and DS are pretty common on some other consumer finance boards (that are usually a little bit more woman-centric than FWF).

op - it's been a pretty widely known thing (from since many years) that VENMO does not like back&forth money transfer ...exactly what you did.....and they are well know to take measures......best is to politely ask your $400 back and if no positive resolution then file with CFPB

Edit: FWF folks can come across as harsh...at first look....but they really are helping you...ignore the reds and focus on your issue....by individually calling out the redders you are NOT HELPING YOUR ISSUE by any cents/pennies

Well, "ignore the reds" is not the right advice here... There were few reds and then he started calling people out and telling readers to move on to other threads (like it is his first day on such a forum with 3K posts...), and THEN he got most reds. So he should pay attention to reds, they are trying to tell him something...

by saying "ignore the reds"...I didn't mean what you are saying.....what I really meant for OP is to not focus on reds instead retain focus on the issue he has.....when a person has money with-held by an organization he/she is prone  to be nervous....also we don't know how big of an impact is $400 to OP....it could be major amount for some while being minor for others.......

Exactly... Complaining about reds all it does is attract more...
