Theft replacement question

This maybe the wrong forum for this.

I have been thinking of leaving my data tools in the car instead of carrying it up 3 flights of stairs every night.

My insurance company says that if I declare my tools and their value, I would get a higher premium, however they would replace the tools if stolen.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't trust phone ops at the ins company.

MAN.. My time to shine!! See, I've worked at every insurance company there is so I know exactly what your policy says and WAAAY more than the phone rep who probably went over your policy and knows the rules. So...

You ready for your answer?

Also, since you called and told them I'm assuming they recorded that inquiry and if your tools do get stolen getting them to cover that cost may be more of an issue.  Insure the stupid things if you're to lazy to lug them upstairs.

My answer is the same, but this was a duplicate and I don't think you want to read my response twice.. or do you?

What are data tools? And do you think the plumber takes all the tools out of his van every night?

Have you considered installing some sort of secure storage box in your car?

This is probably...

About how much are the data tools worth? And how heavy/bulky are the data tools?
