Has anyone successfully concluded a deal from this thread? Half the people I sent a message to, never reply, but that could be because PM notification is broken here. The other half either think you can somehow get a $30,000 2015 Lexus from the auctions for $10,000, or when they see market reports for the car they want, say it's too high.

Probably just people fishing or like you said unrealistic expectations. Any luck with my request above?
I have been looking for a 2009 MB SL550 at the usual sites. Since any of the cars I have looked at locally have been obtained at auction, I wonder how much I could save by finding a broker to buy at one of the auctions. I am in the NY metro area. make: Mercedes Benz Model: 2009 SL550 mileage <60k (but would consider higher with well maintained car) any color or options if car is in good shape

Region: Central/Eastern NC area Make: Audi Model: S4 Year: 2004-2005 Mileage: Any Color: Any Price: Under 10K Tranny: Manual You do know an S4 of that era is a money pit. Unless you can pull engines yourself (which you have to do to replace timing chain parts) or it's real cheap like under $3K, stay far away.
Are these places like Manheim / OVE / etc the place to get cars with hail damage? I just saw a local listing for a hail damage car that went for about $13k, that would normally go for about $18k without hail damage. It was under 2 years old and under 15k miles, so fairly new. Title was clean, not salvage. I'm looking to find more listings like that to see what kind of hail inventory exists.

The few that have asked me to actively find a car, also wanted a maximum price that was below what the cars sell for at the auction. More waste of time. Some people think a $30,000 retail used car can be had from the auction for $20,000. Nope. A Toyota, Honda or Ford dealer is going to make $2,000 or $3,000 on a used car in that price range, so how much do you think you will save buying through the auction. Maybe $1,000 or $2,000 on an average car, not $5,000 or $10,000 they had imagined.
