Louie the Leprechaun (Adeline's Magical Moments Collection) [Kindle Edition] - was $2.99

Lynnette Bellin (Author)

Publication Date: February 18, 2013

11 Reviews ★★★★★

Adeline is a seven year old girl who believes in magic. The Adeline’s Magical Moments Collection documents Adeline’s chance encounters with magical beings, including a leprechaun, the tooth fairy, mermaids, an elf and the Easter Bunny.

Louie the Leprechaun, the first book in the Adeline’s Magical Moments Collection, tells the story of what happens when Adeline catches a leprechaun in her leprechaun trap (or cozy home as she calls it), and uses her wishes to bring fairies to Her Room.

In this series, Adeline learns that magical beings are a lot like people – they are sassy, grumpy, busy and funny. She learns that they have very human emotions, like fear, love and frustration. Adeline finds that unexpected things happen when you meet magical beings in the real world, and that sometimes the real world isn’t a safe place for the magical creatures.

Pajama Boy [Kindle Edition] - was $2.99

Hugh Ranson (Author)

6 Reviews ★★★★★

Benjamin Green loved the freedom of playing in the park close to his house. It was a great place for a boy, with its wild woods, fifteenth century hall, and rumors of ghosts wandering the paths at night. He felt close to all nature, but was especially fond of nocturnal creatures, and the mysterious badger in particular.

But his world was in for a dramatic change the year he turned eleven. He was off to secondary school, where, if he were to believe his older brother, the teachers were harsh, and sometimes cruel. School life was worse than he feared, but he still had the woods to retreat into. Benjamin attempted to keep these two sides of his life separate, but events conspired to bring them crashing together when he discovered his beloved badgers were threatened. What happened next helped him find the courage he didn't know he possessed.

You are dying, and your world is a lie (Epic series) [Kindle Edition]

Johnny B. Truant (Author)

Publication Date: March 6, 2012

8 Reviews ★★★★.5

What is pain? What is discomfort? Is it something terrible, something to be avoided... or is it the very thing that lets us know that we are alive?

The modern world has sold us on a lie. The lie says that to live is to be comfortable. To live is to be free of struggle. The lie says that the ultimate existence would be to never want for anything, to never be pushed so far that it hurts. So why do some of us seek out "edge" experiences? Why do we flirt with deprivation, with intentional chaos? Why do some of us push toward and through our own physical, emotional, and emotional limits, just to see how it feels?

Every day, safe in our modern cocoons, we can comfortably ignore the fact we are dying. But should we blind ourselves to the truth? Beyond self-help cliches lies a painful and sobering reality: YOUR TIME IN THIS LIFE IS LIMITED... AND IT IS RUNNING OUT.

This essay looks at what it is to strive, to seek out what hurts us so that we may find out what it is to truly be human.

ADHDLife | Survive & Thrive

Understanding the ADHD Child - eBook #1 on Kindle

Welcome to the ADHDLife Series, written by a Mom, Attention Deficit expert, ADHD adult, organizer of ADHD conferences, Founder of Parent Support Groups nationwide.... and survivor of a family that “wrote the book” about ADD / ADHD.

Since you are reading this, I must assume that you, your family, or someone else in your life is dealing with ADHD. And it is likely you have struggled, and you're in need of help and knowledge, just to deal with all this brings into your life.

What's in this to help you? How the heck do we make it through the ADHD maze? Can you and your family expect a bright and hopeful outcome, for everyone involved?

That is exactly what this series, “ADHDLife – Survive & Thrive”, is all about. We have lived what you are experiencing. We learned from the experts, the doctors, the 6 year olds, and thousands of parents, teachers, and ADHD adults from every walk of life imaginable. And along the way, we discovered how to survive.... then thrive despite the challenges. My goal here is to help you and those you know and love to thrive and triumph as well.

So, the story begins when my son, Bo, was 6 years old....

Bo was invited, by a letter from the principal, to “not return to our school after spring break” by the top private school in our town..... he was in the first grade. At that point he was an undiagnosed ADD kid. The term ADHD had not yet been coined. So we enrolled Bo in the local public school the following Monday. It wasn't long before the salami hit the fan, again.

Thus began a long journey of living and learning the answers to building a successful life with ADHD. And by the way, “They” don't want you to know the answers. Who are “They”? If you don't know now, you will soon enough.

A Few Quick Notes on the ADHDLife Series

This series of mini-ebooks is presented on Kindle, each in a format that deals with very specific subjects within the wide world of ADHD. Some of what we will be covering is listed below. Each subject is covered in depth, but in a way that helps you come to grips with the challenges, learning how to find the solutions you need, to survive and thrive this ADHD life.

The ADHDLife Series brings commonsense answers, that we have lived and learned, without too much medical / psychological speak, so you become equipped to cope and win, at school, at work, in your family, and in life.

"Grandpa, how do Ships, float?" (Popular science for young kids, collection) [Kindle Edition]

Daniel Levy (Author), Efraim Perlmutter (Editor), Yona L-G (Illustrator)

Publication Date: March 5, 2013

15 Reviews ★★★★★

This Popular Science for Young Kids, Collection books were written after endless hours of happiness joy and endless curious questions of “What's that?", "How?" and “Why?". These questions are cardinal questions that young children and scientists have asked since the creation of man.
This book about “Floating Bodies” is the Third book in this collection which was written with the intention of helping my young grandchildren understand “How great ships made of iron, loaded with large containers, can float while they sink like a stone in the swimming pool?”
This is a story that takes us back to early times; to the days of the ancient Rome and its wars against the ancient Greek city-states. The story is about the grate scientist Archimedes of Syracuse. One day, while taking a bath, an important discovery made Archimedes very excited. He was so excited that he jumped out from his bath and forgot to put on his clothes. He ran naked along the streets of his city, Syracuse, and shouted all the way home “Eureka! Eureka!,” a word in ancient Greek which means, "I have found it! I have found it!” The word, eureka, is still used today by someone making a surprising discovery.
Entries mentioned
I mention and explain in this book, to my grandchildren, about the entries, as follow: -
Archimedes of Syracuse;
The Claw;
The Catapult;
Regularly shaped body;
Finding the volume of an object with an Irregular Shape;
Buoyancy Principle of Floating Bodies;
Swim Bladder
Aircraft carrier.
And more.

Constant Hunger: Why We Can't Stop Eating (Weight Loss Questions and Answers) [Kindle Edition] - was $2.99

NJ Rickman (Author)

Publication Date: November 16, 2012

5 Reviews ★★★★★

Always hungry?

Constant hunger isn't normal, yet many of us never really feel satisfied, even right after eating. If you're asking yourself, "Why am I always hungry?" you're not alone. You might think never feeling full is all in your head, but that may not be the case at all. It can be a sign of diabetes symptoms or other medical conditions. It doesn't necessary indicate a loss of self-control or out-and-out gluttony at all!

Never feeling satisfied even directly after eating a meal can be about emotional eating, but not necessarily. While emotional eating is extremely common, there are a number of physiological reasons for non-stop eating and feeling hungry all the time. Medications, depression, diabetes, hypothyroidism and even excess stomach acid can all provoke insatiable hunger that leaves the sufferer feeling guilty over their lack of control over non-stop eating.

The good news is once you have an idea what is behind your constant hunger, you can begin to deal with it and get back on the road to health and vitality. When you learn about what can provoke hunger, you can begin to begin to understand it and get the help that you need to conquer it for good. You can make out-of-control cravings a thing of the past with a little knowledge and help from your physician. It's never too late to win the battle against constant hunger.

Southern Flavors | Southern Mom's Amazing Cookbook [Kindle Edition] - was $3.77

Debra Lynn (Author)

Publication Date: January 23, 2012

5 Reviews ★★★★.5

Not all Southern cooking is the same, and this collection is not about fried chicken or biscuits and gravy. Not that some of those famous Southern dishes aren't delicious.

Being from Virginia originally, I grew up with my mother cooking like her mother. Everything was smothered in butter, grease, or heavy cream. My Mom was known to fry Krispy Kreme doughnuts in butter, served hot to our family. Yum yum.

So with apologies to my early days, I offer this collection of (mostly) healthy alternatives. Each of these recipes is the result of my becoming a vegetarian just after my college days, but easing back into the mainstream over a few years. The results of my culinary journey developed an eclectic collection of my family's favorites.

From melt in your mouth eggplant parmesan, to green beans that taste fabulous, without the ham hoc, we have enjoyed these dishes for years. Fantastic and healthy halibut, and McGuire Chicken (you must try this one) are examples of the variety.

And, because you deserve it, treat yourself with the best cookies ever baked, anywhere, by anybody. I'm not kidding.

I trust that you will find my family's favorites, becoming your favorites as well. Enjoy.

And you gotta try my 25 years' best cookies.

COAL & COCA-COLA: Small Town USA 1949 (Short True Story w/Photos) (Visceral History) [Kindle Edition] was $1.99
"I have always admired my mother's bull dog determination as a divorced, single woman supporting herself and two kids through a business of her own as a professional baker. Against various types of odds for a woman in 1949, when my brother was around five years old, and I was two, our mother, Marge Hudnall, borrowed $6,000 from a local bank in her small town of Florence, Colorado (around 3,000 population at that time), opened a bakery, and repaid the loan in two years.

"Through that venture, she accomplished more than earning a living, as I discovered when I interviewed her for this story, and she automatically began recalling events which were news to me and almost news to her. I typed furiously, in my personal shorthand, as my Mom began talking, seeming to fall into a trance of her personal and professional history. For several nonstop hours, the interview flowed on its own so freely, I didn't have to pause typing to ask more than a few questions. Within the historic ambiance which Mom described in our interview, Sloppy Joes were originated in the 50's in The Malt Shop Bakery and Bus Depot in Florence, Colorado. Margie's bakery story, COAL & COCA-COLA proves the origin or that juicy sandwich and more."

Read this energizing short story while it steams, as an upgraded unabridged KINDLE edition with a photo essay included.

This short work is dedication to this entrepreneurial mother who has earned respect beyond words.
A Mining Series based around Florence, Colorado:
1. Coal & Coca-Cola
2. The Price of Black Diamonds
3. I Worked
4. Coal Dust in Their Hands
5. Dark Diamond Twilight
6. The Last Lunch Box
7. We Work All Our Lives and What Do We Get?
8. This is Someone’s Loved One: An Undertaker’s View

The VH definition/code has been enhanced and updated with that new version included in this unabridged fifth Kindle edition of COAL & COCA-COLA.

APOLOGY from the author and KINDLE GLOW BOOKS:

The story here feels too short, even with the photo essay. The original 8 VH's were written for the official local newspaper in the late 1990's and early 2000's and were too long for that venue, but were allowed extra inches of column space because they were a special type offering. In each case the author had difficulty condensing the interviews. She would like to add more to these, but is unable to do so at this time.

However, the main story content in these Visceral Histories is as long or longer than many Kindle offerings of short stories, and the VH's expand that length with photos and the Visceral History concept included. In the five mining stories an extensive historic capture of related events is also included.

Due to the unique content of these stories and photos, KINDLE GLOW BOOKS feels that these titles give more than a fair value for the price.

A reviewer commented that 50% of her copy was advertisements for other books. That is true of "Coal & Coca-Cola" and "We Work All our Lives and What do we get?"... if you don't count the essay on the Visceral History definition and code in that percentage, which we believe belongs with the content and enhances it.

The rest of the appendix content contains a biography, author photo, title page, dedication, hyperlinked list of books by the author sorted into categories, and book covers of a few other books by this author. The publisher believes that this appendix material can be helpful, and would appreciate it in books they read.

But in the case of the shorter VH's we hope that stating this here will alleviate disappointment if the story ends when the percentage says 50% [with photos beyond that].

In light of this, a second option of an abridged edition, ASIN: B00AR63D7O, of Coal & Coca-Cola, minus the appendices, is now available at a lower price.

An American Holocaust: The Story of Lataine's Ring [Kindle Edition] was $3.50
75 years ago on March 18, 1937 around 3:17 pm, one of the most modern public school buildings in America exploded in a rural Texas community decimating the student population and destroying innocent lives. Considered the worst public school disaster in American history, controversial theories surrounding this tragedy are still debated to this day. The event sparked changes that soon reverberated around the world and continue to affect each of us in our homes, schools, businesses and places of worship.

"An American Holocaust" is a story that begins with the giving of a child's Christmas gift in 1936. The explosion took place at the London School in New London, Texas in 1937. The story relays more than simple facts. It is a personal account of unprepared loss and shattered dreams, followed by unfathomable grief. It describes the feelings of those who died in their innocence and of those who witnessed horror and lived through the aftermath. An unresolved silence persisted for forty years among the entire community of scarred survivors. For those who spoke out, their stories have been told and re-told for three quarters of a century, but most people have never heard them.
