Kroger backed out, Walgreens new plan to get government approval is to have 865 stores divested to Fred's.

I feel it is going to be another Haagen situation with Albertsons being able to pickup any stores it wants after Haagen couldn't handle it.

It is going to be tough for Fred to introduce into some of the new markets like the West Coast. Choosing these underfunded, small competitors to meet FTC obligations is just bogus. I personally hope FTC sees through this trick, but it is not clear.

It appears Walgreens is only selling RA stores and not choosing the RA location over the Walgreens location (if nearby) at this time.

Any insight about how the reward programs will be treated after the WAG-RAD merger is completed? Yesterday a large sale of WAG/RAD stores was announced to Fredís which was the last step for getting the merger approved? As you know, the Plenti plan is owned by American Express and a bunch of other retailers. The Plenti program allows for spending points at all the retailers. Thanks
