In my town, last week even the most expensive supermarket had a standard carton of a dozen eggs for 99 cents. The prices at Aldi and WalMart have been less than that in my town for a long time. My Aldi has even gotten down to 59 cents, some weeks.
update: I went grocery shopping today, Dec 28, and a carton of a dozen eggs at my nearest Aldi is currently 89 cents, and a carton of a dozen eggs at my city's largest supermarket (part of a large regional supermarket chain) is 59 cents.
