Drive prices are being kept artificially high. Thats what happens when competition is squeezed out and consolidated.

Everyone expected drive prices to drop as soon as inventories were replenished from the whole flooding fiasco, but that clearly hasn't been the case

I don't buy WD green drives, they dont play well in RAID. But as a single large storage drive, or even a pool of drives using unRAID or similar they should be fine.

Wow, the reviews are pretty bad. Nearly 33% 1-egg reviews. I wonder why drive makers cannot seem to mfg reliable larger-TB HDs?

What about the reviews on the 4TB Hitachi drives? Are those any better?

Most of the bad reviews are people who don't know how to integrate it into their PC. If your software doesn't support 3TB, don't blame the manufacturer.
