I know about those i7-3770 Microcenter deals, but not all of us have MC close by.


In case one wonders i7's have mainly one advantage over quad-i5's -- hyperthreading. That is good for CPU intensive tasks like video encoding, CS6, etc, but have little effect on gaming and office work tasks. Save $100 and go with i5 processor if your computing does not include those CPU hungry tasks.

I would stick with core i7 2700k. It overclocks better.

i5-3570k is also currently $199.99, pretty good price there as well.
