Windows 8 users that need some more touching for their non touchscreen computers, the Logitech Touch mouse T620 is 49.99 @ Staples.com . I still had that 20 off 50 coupon from the Staples email spam, and used that and a filler to get it down to 29.99. Wish it had haptic feedback like the Microsoft Touch mouse though. That one with a touch strip is 19.99 @ Staples.

The older version M600 is 32.47 refurbished @ eBay , which I believe Logitech has updated with software to do the same touch functions as the T620. Honestly I think they made a new model to cash in on Windows 8.

I do not understand why anyone would opt to use a touchpad over a proper mouse. Does it have specialised buttons and such for e.g. charms?

The Logitech touch mouse T620 is 49.99. So cheap! I wanna to get one for my young brother.

The Logitech T650 Touchpad is on sale too, for 59.99. Read about it on that other deals site, only certain stores got them this week, and only a few at a time.
I guess some people are really used to using touchpads on their laptops and need to replicate the experience at home too. Most touchpads are hard to use because of low accuracy and bad button design. I like synaptics made touchpads the most, and the glass stuff is pretty intuitive to use.
But I still prefer a good old mouse whenever there's space. I'm starting to get the hang of touch mice, I like that I can scroll on any spot, not just flicking the center.

When implemented well, the scrolling for reading documents (i.e. web browsing) works better than it does with a mouse wheel. And this mouse (along with others) recognize gestures for activating various Windows features.

I got this yesterday and it's okay. I'm still not used to the weird clicking action, and the scrolling function doesn't seem to work in some apps, like file explorer. If you use the Staples App, there was a 20% off a mouse over $30 coupon when I checked mine, so got it for $10 less.
