I usually just use a regular scale (and stand on it), netting my weight out. Looks like this product you just hook it and then pick it up and it tells you the weight, probably useful for something (heavier shipping packages?).

these type of scales are useful when you are traveling and need to check your luggage weight to avoid overweight luggage fees. such as when you are somewhere already, made some purchases, and then continue to next destination.

that said, Meritline often has similar scales around $6.
