Hi! I got this email a couple days ago. I don't use usenet often, but it might interest someone.

Jump into spring with some usenet! Our 500 GB usenet blocks are on sale for just $20!

Read the announcement on our blog to see the full details. The sale will run until 11:59 PM EST on April 3, 2013.

To purchase a block you can simply login to your NewsgroupDirect account and click the Add Block button. If you don't already have a NewsgroupDirect account you can visit the Pricing page to get started.

Here's the link: http://newsgroupdirect.com/pricing

please state correctly about 20 per month

@classiceason The deal is accurate as OP posted. It's located at the bottom of the link.

"Block Usenet Plans
If you don't use usenet consistently enough to warrant a monthly subscription then block usenet access is for you. Choose the block size that suits you and use it at your convenience. Block accounts never expire. No worrying about being billed every month."

If people need more traffic than that and can wait ~2 weeks, the same company sells 1.1TB blocks (1TB + 10% for headers) for $38 pretty much every month on the Tuesday around the 12th. Link: http://www.newsgroupdirect.com/blog/tag/terabyte-tuesday/

They also randomly have a "Happy Hour" sale 9pm-11pm EST (you can subscribe to their notification list and they will email you when the next one is coming up). Link: http://newsgroupdirect.com/happy-hour

ETA: Fixed info about Happy Hour (thanks, floridapanda!)

ETA: The deals for their first two Happy Hours (3/20/2013, then 3/28/2013) were 2TB for $70 and 2TB for $65. That's a pretty hot deal for someone in the market for a large newsgroup block...

I don't think the Happy Hour thing is every day. THere happens to be one tonight, though. So far it has seemed like a random thing.

With DMCA takedowns posts are being removed as soon as its posted, otherwise 500GB @ $20 is pretty good. I still have my $5 monthly unlimited deal with newsgroupdirect going strong but these DMCA's have become aggravating.

How are the overseas providers? Do they comply with DMCA?

Haven't used a NewsGroup in years.
Do you need a " Newsgroup Reader " to access and dowwnload ? If so do you know of any FREE ones besides " Agent " ( IF they are even still in business)

Use something like this http://www.binsearch.info/ to search and a lot of other apps to download, like http://www.shemes.com/

Only problem these days, like previous poster mentions, is the DMCA takedowns are ruining some movies and tv shows! I think some servers (in the netherlands?) do not comply with DMCA.

I was able to use xusenet.com to download things I could not find with newshosting.com, but the free edition only has 10 days retention!

I'll give it a shot as a backup, maybe I can find some fills
