I was piddling around Radio Shack at lunch and saw they have the Parallax Basic Stamp Activity Kit to learn microcontroller programming with for $29.99, which is what they say is $70 off their $99.99 original price. I can't find this item on the Radio Shack website, but Amazon does have it for $77   [amazon.com  ].

Here's the Parallax manufacturer's website info   [parallax.com  ] - it shows $79.99, so Radio Shack is inflating it a bit. The video is at least a little interesting. I may get one of these just to experiment a little.

eBay sells them for around $44 from what the completed listings show, but for $29.99 if you're looking for this kind of thing or want to help a kid learn, it'd be worth it. Like I mentioned, it's probably an instore only thing so you won't find it on their website.
