Important bits:

  • Only the Out Of Pocket amount will earn 25% back in rewards (so after coupons, after rewards, etc).

    • Paying with gift cards is just like using cash -- you should earn rewards.
    • Paying with Rewards is just like using coupons -- you will not earn rewards on the amount paid for with rewards.

  • Kiosk orders:

    • Not online only items: Kiosk orders paid for at the cash register are in-store purchases for rewards purposes and have qualified for this offer in the past.
    • Online only items: The general rule for back in rewards coupons and kiosk orders paid for at the cash register is that rewards will not be paid out on "online only" items unless the item has Staples SKU. A Staples SKU is six or seven numeric digits (123456 / 1234567). Examples of non-Staples SKU would be those that start with two alpha characters. Of course, if the rewards system does not automatically pay out, you are left to the tender mercies of rewards customer service ....
    • Excluded items of course still do not qualify.

  • Only one rewards offer per item. The 25% back in rewards offer over-rides lessor rewards offers (e.g. the standard 2%/3%/5% back will not be earned as well) just as a greater rewards offer would over-ride the 25% back in rewards offer.
  • The 25% back in rewards coupon will attach to anything. Regardless of what the coupon attaches to in-store, the rewards system will only award rewards according to how the offer was programmed into the rewards system.
  • While the coupon will attach to purchases for two days after the expiration date, the rewards offer ends 02 July 2016. Once the rewards offer expires, even if the coupon attaches, no rewards will be awarded.
  • For more information about rewards, or anything else about Staples, see the Staples Information Thread.

Not sure what point brusbrother is trying to make but rebates are generally not subtracted from the purchase price as coupons and rewards are to get to the OOP amount.

That said, there has been at least one time -- with a Kaspersky rebate -- where at least some purchasers' OOP amounts were reduced for the amount of the rebate.

Way off track here:

First off the rebate on the ream paper is about $4-5 per ream cause it is the COUPON that makes them 1c aer otherwise it is $2.99 after rebate. So at best, it's another $1-1.25mm per ream, not $2 each.

Then again, the ream paper for next week is Hammermill and is advertised as $8.29 with a $7.29 rebate.

Huh? $7.29 rebate. $1 after rebate on sale price of $8.29. Next week's ad for Hammermill not this week's ad for Staples MP.

We may be referring to the same incident but my decline was over the McAfee purchase.

Yes, that was a deal I posted, (McAfee) in the old days, a $10MM (on a $40 rebate, 1c aer deal). but they claimed the "rebate" made the selling price 1c, so no rewards back.  Lots of unhappy people over that mess, customer service and the office of the Pres. wouldn't budge using some nonsense in the T&C that it wasn't good with any other offer and a rebate was an offer.

You are correct. McAfee not Kaspersky.

I notice HP ink is not listed in the exclusions. Has anyone had the % rewards back work on this in the past?

The percentage back in rewards offers have worked on HP ink and toner in the past even when the exclusion was listed on all coupon versions.

There are reports on SD of the 25% back in rewards being added to the rewards amount in the rewards summary. Rewards purchase details still not updating properly.

Only one person on SD reported so far (not reports) and the person didn't say what they bought so we still don't know if the 25% is attaching to the paper or items with rebates - that is what everyone really wants to know

My rewards balance reflects the 25% bonus on one case of the rebate paper and a Brother ink cartridge that I price matched with Amazon.  My purchase details are shot, but there is a new line for 06262016 25% in my rewards detail screen. I am also realistic that they could adjust that before the rewards come out.
