So many good deals on flights to Asia recently. Lol Flew Air China a few times. No bad experience though I would rather fly Singapore, Cathy or Hainan.

Air China is dog meat compared to Singapore or Cathy. Air China is one of the few airlines that I actually think is on par with(not a compliment) United or AA. Unfriendly service, godawful food, even in business let alone Coach.
Oh and no cell phones, even in airplane mode, on that 9-12 hour flight because China is ridiculous about "air safety".
Still, $399 is $399.

It is true. No cells in operation -- not even in airplane mode. They have to be off.
It did not stop one woman on my last flight. As we were within a couple of miles of the end of the runway you could hear it chirp as emails came in. What was interesting was they found the person by getting up during landing. (Just a few rows in front of them)
Unfortunately, the policy of announcements in Chinese first meant the English announcement was made on roll out for the American woman and other Americans on board. (no ground navigation to mess with, thus it was moot by then)
(And mediocre food, too)
Not deal breakers though.

If you fly in China, you know the airline staff have it hard b/c most people in China believe they can make their own rules, or that they are exception during the rules.
ETA, no Los Angeles.

Tokyo trips seem to require connection in Peking China, so it's around 38hrs from Boston (jetblue to NYC first). ugh.

People either have time or money, rarely do people have both.
