These are the models with planar TLC, and they may still have "the slow bug", where the reads on old data get slower and slower. A firmware release candidate fix was released and quickly withdrawn back in Feb 2015. Many Samsung 840 drives were never fixed (I have six M.2 versions from high-end OEM tablets and laptops, which Samsung never bothered to fix).

If you think $100 is worth enough of a gamble for a maybe 50/50 drive. Then go for the deal.

I am interested in updating the SSD on my PC and am trying to learn more about them. The price for a Samsung 950 Pro is over 3 times as much as the OP (at least on Amazon ). What makes it a better deal for the ordinary i.e. non-gamer user?
Has anyone confirmed that the firmware EXT42M0Q does fix the issue? The seller replied to my email and said it does.
"Samsung PM851 Series Solid State Drive 50mm | TLC | SATA III | mSATA SSD | Newest Firmware applied (EXT42M0Q) 1 Year Warranty Samsung 3-Core MDX Controller | Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) Technology Read Up to 540 MB/s / Write Up to 380 MB/s (ATTO)"
