this is a pretty good home unit and it's inexpensive, but more importantly, it's more versatile than people realize.

Be aware that the ice cream isn't "hard" after useage, only semi hard that most people would want to use another 2-3 hours in the freezer before using.
Other than that, you don't have to use it fully done, you can make some excellent "slurpees" by not finishing the process. You'd even use less sugar than the ones a the convenience store. You can also use one to make a "slurpee" out of real fruit juice for an even healthier alternative.
You can use coffee and a lot of milk and make a "frappacino" for less than 50 cents instead of the 5 dollars you'd spend at $tarbuck$ (now that the new star system is in place, there is less reason to shop there than before)

Another think is that you can always have the inner sleeve frozen and use it to rapidly chill a can of beer or bottle of wine or you can use it as an "ice wand" to rapidly blast chill food so that it stays within the safe temperature zone. Suppose you have some hot stew, chili, soup, or other food. If you place it in the frig, it will raise the temp of the whole frig, lessening the life of the other food and using a lot of electricity to bring the temp down below 40. If you let it sit and cool closer to room temperature bacteria is growing. Our the soup into a plastic or metal tub put the sleeve in and it will save money and be safer.
