no GPS though

most smart watches dont have gps. Your phone however does. I looked up "the 5 month later" reviews and nothing really impressed me. Nothing's changed since it was first released. No big OS update. The watch face community is pretty stagnant. No wizards making the best of the 64 color screen. This watch would be great if it hit the $49 mark. But if you are a part of the android watch crowd and wondering if there's anything to be had with the always active screen pebble crowd, there isn't.

I agree with this. I got one new off their kickstarter. Neat watch, but has its flaws. It never really worked well for fitness tracking with steps and such as often the background steps tracking app would close and stop recording steps.

However, if you're into programming, it's pretty neat in that way. You use their IDE to write software for the watch in javascript or C, so it's pretty neat to write software and see it happen on your watch.

I have my Time Steel since the last eBay deal and so far I really like it. Step counting app works, simple watch face that looks like old monochrome lcd electronic watch works, vibrating notifications are Handy since my phone is almost always on silent, long battery life rocks!

What needs to change really?  the lack of hyper development on it is a non issue.  The thing is incredibly reliable and gets around 5-7 days of battery life (when I had one it was more like 6).  I refuse to buy a smartwatch without a solid 3 day+ lifespan...when I saw the round pebble with short battery life I thought now this is stupid.

To this day the pebble is the only viable smartwatch besides maybe the Fossil Q that is only for notifications (not the main touchscreen one).
