I had this offer on 4 of 5 cards.  If you don't want to buy something outright the iTunes app lets you send gift cards though there seems to be a $10 minimum. Remember to update your account settings with your Amex card number before buying the gift card as the gift card process doesn't ask for a credit card number.

Once loaded into your account iTunes credit can be used for iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases.  It will also be used to pay for monthly Apple Music and iCloud storage subscriptions.

I got this on my kids' AU accounts on my Blue/Blue Cash cards. Not available on any of my cards or my wife's. I wonder if it's age specific?

Doubt it. I'm middle-aged and I got it on all my accounts.

This offer can also be stacked with the 5% cash back on iTunes available in the ibotta app. I've received the 5% back on two iTunes gift card purchases so far. The offer seems to come back after each use.

iTunes gift card minimum is $10 from within the iTunes app or the Apple iPhone apps.  If you are near an Apple Store they may be able to do a refill of your account with other (lower) amounts.

Check your amex for your expiration date.  Mine is 12/31/2016

Does anyone know how to get iTunes to generate a receipt so I can switch cards and take advantage of the offer on another card? I've had a couple of purchases pending for a week. Usually they send receipts on Wednesday and Sunday but lately it's taking much longer. I'm afraid that if I change credit cards in my account, it will charge the unbilled transactions to the new one. Or will it actually do what I want and finally bill the current purchases on the current card before switching?

Buy an iTunes egift card, not an app or music, send the gift card to yourself, then add it to your account. The gift card purchase goes directly to your credit card even if your iTunes account already has a balance.  Update your credit card info in your profile then repeat.  If you make a bunch of small purchases Apple uses your account balance first, then as you noticed aggregates the charges for a few days so that its not constantly 99 centing your credit card.

Thanks. I know I can buy gift cards but at this point I've got $5 in purchases that just have to be charged. I decided to "buy" a few free books so hopefully that will generate a receipt since previously I only had 2 things. Next go-round maybe I'll just buy the gift card.
