This is a BF special, but available today, The mixer is available in three colors - Silver, Black and Red. Keep in mind, this is professional plus. BestBuy lists the motor at 450 watt, but scroll below to see the manufacturer specification, which says 525 watt motor.

  • KV25G0XSL - Silver
  • KV25G0XOB - Onyx Black
  • KV25G0XER - Empire Red

It's better thank Kohl's and Macy's deals out there.

This is hot, but the heat can be turned up a bit more. It's better than Macy's or Kohl's, but then the red-headed stepchild of department has an even better deal: Sears. They've got it for this price, with up $20 in ShopYourWay points coming with it as well. BUT if you want the red, for some reason, the points you get back is $60 instead of $20. It also seems to actually be available for pickup and delivery on all of them (a rarity for Sears), at least for me.

Empire Red ($60 back in points): http://www.sears.com/kitchenaid-professional-plus-5-qt-stand-mix...
Onyx Black ($20 back in points): http://www.sears.com/kitchenaid-professional-plus-5-qt-stand-mix...
Silver ($20 back in points): http://www.sears.com/kitchenaid-kv25g0xsl-professional-plus-5-qu...

my 10 year old Kitchenaid still works... but I still want to buy this.

Only seeing $50 in bonus rewards from Sears on the red (not $60), and none on the black or silver... but there's also $15 clipped coupon that applies... so around $200 (-$15 coupon +15.25 taxes)  OOP, and then $52 back rewards.

I think I see the issue, I have the Silver VIP status, so it is offering me more points back. I forgot about that.

Just purchased the red one from Sears. Applied a $20 coupon and $10 in rewards points. Paid $181.9 after tax and have $51.7 rewards back. Awesome deal. Thanks for the information!

Actually, the deal you point to is not nearly as hot as the OPs.  The mixer in the OP is $300 off.  The mixer you're pointing out is $100+SYWR off.  Huge difference in capability.  Look for yourself.

I think you're right, it's probably the 6 QT that has the higher wattage motor.

Actually, the deal that I point to is the same thing with the same model number. Model numbers have a meaning, and the same model number isn't assigned for two different models. Either Best Buy has the wrong MSRP (appears to be this) or model number. In fact, it is entirely possible they both have it screwed up. On Sears, it actually says 525W. On Best Buy, it actually says 450W (but we are to assume it is 525W because supposedly that is what it should be based upon the model number). I don't know which it is. But either way, they're almost certainly both the same, and both are good deals, but the Sears one is slightly better if you want the points. Look for yourself.

TargetAmazonNewegg etc all have listings for this model. Some list it at 450 and other at 525.
It is a discontinued so no specs at Kitchenaid except for this listing for a refurb which says it is 450 watts.

https://www.kitchenaid.com/shop/-%20[RKV25G0XCU]-401247/RKV25G0XCU/

And this listing at Sears outlet says in specs.
Max Power Consumption - Power 450 W, but then has Wattage - 525

http://www.searsoutlet.com/KV25GOXER-Professional-Plus-5-Quart-S...

Whether it's 450 or 525 I think it's more than enough power unless you're mixing up a batch of homemade modeling clay or concrete.

My guess is that what is going on here, given that it seems to be a discontinued model, is that Sears is giving an original price based upon the current "market value" whereas Best Buy is giving an original price based upon what it would have cost before it was discontinued. But you're absolutely right about 450W vs. 525W: once you get into that range, the only real important thing to note is that you've got a powerful enough mixer that more than handles the job.

If I can't get 15% more wattage then what good am I ??

Costco has the Model 600 for $269 (instant $60 off) in store. Then, a $50 rebate started yesterday 11-20-16. I bought one but returning it today. The mixing paddles are burnished metal and the first batch of mixed cream cheese turned out grey in color. After Googling this is a very common complaint. You cannot put the paddles in the dishwasher - which I did not - as they will tarnish. I experienced the tarnish immediately have first wash and rinse by hand. If all of that does not bother you, this is a great deal on the 6-Qt, 590W model.

1) is this ad for real?
2) does one need buy extra spiral dough hook? or different paddle?
