Will go nicely with the recent vivofit bands for 20 bucks at Verizon.

Honestly unless you're into bondage like w this chest mounted unit they now make wrist units that are great.

http://www.wareable.com/sport/heart-rate-monitors-chest-straps-v... wrist devices are generally not as accurate, particularly for longer uses.

Keep in mind this is two generations old. You can see the differences in the two summary pictures. The new style is more flexible instead of a rubber band and the sensor is removable from the band. The new version comes in two flavors, heart rate only and the HRM-RUN that adds a accelerometer to measure stuff like cadence and stride length.

I've used both and the old rubber style didn't bother me comfort-wise.

And the very first comment on that article calls it into question. I have been using the Mio Link for over a year in conjunction w/ my Suunto Ambit 3 on the other wrist and I would say I trust its accuracy 100%. I mean if it's off by 1 bpm (not that it is) who the hell cares. Connectivity is maintained throughout the run perfectly.

But don't take my word for it. I and many others think the undisputed maven for all things fitness tech is DCRainmaker who in his reviewsaid Ive been playing with the product now for a few days, and thus can give you a bit of an overview of how it works though, I can kinda just start off with the simple version: It rocks. He of all people is hip to the importance of accuracy and reliable connectivity.

There are other optical HRMs for the wrist as well.

Thank you! This is compatible with the Garmin Edge cycling navigator I have. I always wanted to have a spare HRM.
