OK, I'll bite. Why would someone want an 80gb when you can get a 128 for the same price?

You can save money on CPU and put on sticker "Intel Inside". It's clever!

Why would anyone NEED to have the Intel part?

There are plenty of other vendors for M.2 drives that are equivalent.   These are  commodity parts and interchangeable.
