Paper deals seem to be getting worse and worse each week.

I agree, though the 5-ream for $31-$26 (?) was at least good for getting spending up and no coupon-limit-1 vs rebate-limit-4 to fight over.

  fiscal year ended.

Thanks again VivYip for such a complete OP vs. just a link to the website.

There was no 25% reward promotion which typically happens in the last month of each quarter.

We shall see what fiscal 1st quarter 2017 brings. Maybe after a couple of years of doing the 25% they decided it didn't bring in enough business to justify. Who knows. They've buttoned down the hatches on quite a few things of late like 10/50 coupons, 25/75 coupons for in-store/online. When you have a tough time getting your revenue up you look anywhere to cut costs.

Best Buy has Chromecast for $30 (reg $35) in their flyer starting Feb 5.

Not in the Staples flyer, but I assume we'll either see Staples offer it for $30 too, or else be able to PM for $29.50? Jan Rewards are coming Feb 9 (Thu) which is good timing.

They may also be thinking of taking another run at Office Depot in a couple of years. One lesson I might have taken from their previous failed attempts is not to be too dominant. Never mind "too big to fail", they may have been "too big to merge".

Getting their market share down might actually help with that (I found an article from a year ago that cites Staples at 40% in 2013 and 38% in 2014 -- perhaps getting down closer to 30% could give a merger a better chance. And if they were just buying market share with FAR and SR promotions, it wouldn't have that much real cost in the short term.

Pure speculation on my part, of course.

Chromecast and Chromecast Audio are now $30 on Staples app. I've got $40 in Ink Rewards, and Staples says another $30 (my spreadsheet says $17). Waiting for Thursday.

Did you buy HP ink last month?  there were bonus rewards on HP ink and toner most of last month

I definitely didn't. Rewards came in today and I got the $30 (plus $40 for ink) so I'll have to go back and check.

Went to store and bought Chromecast, it rang up at $35 and I had to correct him. I paid $30 each, does the extra 10% not count for matching Staples.com? I guess I could have cited Best Buy at $30 to get it for $29.50, but I didn't have much time and it wasn't worth it at that point.

A friend has $30 ($20+$10) in Rewards and also wants a Chromecast ($30). Tries to apply both Rewards for an online order and the second one is getting rejected with

Coupon not applied: Order total must exceed the amount of the coupon value.

I've encountered Staples.com refusing to redeem a $40 Reward for a $39.99 item, but surely they don't mean it has to be $30.01? Is this something that can be fixed by a phone call? Or do they have to hike to the store to do it?

Thanks!

I would just add a filler item that I wanted (or I'd return it at a later time). I know in-store you can buy things with rewards and have a $0 balance, but maybe not on the website.

I knew in-store you could buy things and get change (a one-time "Balance Coupon") but this is new to me. I believe it though.

I'm also now finding the friend's $20 coupon is flagged as already used, even though it wasn't. Guessing I'll have to do a chat or phone call to fix this.

Not sure what was going on, but I deleted all Staples cookies and relaunched Firefox, and it seemed to be okay with the two coupons. If I put them in first, and then the Chromecast, it said I still owed 60c tax on $0 balance. Don't know what would have happened if I'd given it a credit card, maybe it would have charged $0.

Instead I added a $1 filler (spiral notebook marked down to $1) and it wanted $1.06. Looks like I might get only 3c back if I return the notebook (or 97c if I return the Chromecast) so I'll live with the notebook.

Thanks again!

BTW Chromecast _is_ $30 in the preview flyer for Feb 12-18. So any chance of PMing to BB at $30 and getting it for $29.50 relies on doing it by Sat (Feb 11).
