Not much of a deal unless it comes with the software to allow you to actually play blu-ray discs. I don't see mention of that anywhere.

It doesn't but you can get free software that will. The real downfall is the quality is poor according to reviews and there are no windows 10 drivers.

  Where do you get good free blu-ray software (not pirated)? Haven't seen that. It's very different than the standard software to play DVD's. It needs a license. Usually it's somewhere around $30. The free stuff seems to have all sorts of problems.

Installed easy, appreciated the inclusion of the legacy power adapter, even if I didn't need it.

It's actually $29.99 and review says it does work with Windows 10. It seems to be a Windows 10 problem, and you might actually have to go into the Device Manager *gasp*. I hardly see how you can blame a BD-R drive manufacturer for Windows 10.
