This was just on a deal for $80 if you purchase another Anker product, but now the price has dropped.

Can it be used for passenger monitor for rideshare?

Some pros and cons. Aren't capacity based ones better than with a battery?

Yes in that the capacitor ones practically can never fail over time due to the battery giving out. That being said the capacitor ones are a little more complex to install and you can't use them outside of the car once the power goes out. With a battery one, you can remove it and still use it for up to an hour depending on the camera. This may be useful if you're in an accident and then need to get out of your car and record your surroundings as well or the state of yourself and your passengers. Also note some capacitor models will shut off if power is cut to the car immediately while some battery models have an option to record up to 5 minutes once the power is cut off. This may be useful for obvious reasons in a head on collision and your power gets cut (assuming the camera survives the crash).

As you said pros and cons. I've had a few dash cams for a few years now and ultimately settled on dash cam models where the battery is easily replaceable. Costs a few bucks and I can do in a manner of minutes. Choice is yours.
