I get home way before the mail does. I feel lucky if it's delivered before 6PM.

My mail also comes late. I just signed-up as it's now available in my area. Informed Delivery is kind of hidden on their website. After signing up I tried looking up yesterday and the day before. Nothing showed, even though I did get a lot of crap in the mail. Maybe it only starts after signing up. I'll check again later.

fasttimes mom on the mailman's route? I mean it's only 3-13 minutes, but he's got to wait his turn.

Mine comes like 2pm. Walking route, at least we have oak trees but it's still hot if you're moving even in the shade.

The NPR article says it opens nationwide this April 14th, probably why there's been no response yet, even though they're taking signups.

I like this part of the article:

"McAllister, who wrote a piece on this new feature in Linn's Stamp News, says it's hard to find usefulness in a new aspect of a product that's not significant in one's daily life to begin with."
...
"McAllister previously wrote a stamp and coin column for The Washington Post for 19 years,..."

I signed up for this the day they sent it to my USPS account. A week later, I started getting the emails. Our mail comes around 2:00 PM. Some days I get the email at 8:00 AM, so it's useful. At least once, I got the email at 4:00 PM so no point. Considering how many credit card and bank bonus offers I do, it's nice to know a few hours early what will be showing up that day.

I will wait for the service to evolve and send me a summary of what's inside and rank from scam to 10.

I guess if I use this app, I'll finally be able to read the envelopes that have gotten soaking wet cause my lazy ass letter carrier can't close the mailbox door.  Almost feel like contracting a local pitbull to give him a little motivation.

OP, in case you want to add it to your post, here's the link to sign up

I got my first Daily Digest email.  Five pieces of mail should be in my box.  Here are the first two letters.  Anyone want to pay my cable bill?

How much is this adding to usps losses. 10 straight years and counting, total over $60B...
$5.6 billion loss in 2016

I think they've been scanning mail for a long time, so very little incremental costs. The service may produce more business. For businesses, it may be a service many now want. There's also the possibility they may charge for it in the future. If they do, I'll cancel. There's no need for me to pay to know the cable bill is sitting in my mailbox.

Government mandated funding the retirement of people not even born yet will do that.

Not to get too political, but it truly was a master stroke of genius to make the post office look like a failure.

Does the USPS send this information to The Task Force™?

How did the USPS know it was yours with the address all scribbled out?

I'm getting a large black cell phone in the mail. Will Informed Delivery blow my cover?

I rec'd an "Informed Delivery Daily Digest" email yesterday, but it didn't show any mail nor did I have any mail in my Informed Delivery Mailbox.

However, I rec'd a stack of mail in my roadside mailbox.

Was this an April Fool's joke or am I being harassed by "my dept."?

EDIT:  I just checked my Informed Delivery Mailbox and it now has scans of some of the mail that I physically rec'd yesterday.  So, it is pretty obvious that "my dept." is messing with me.

This is kinda neat though. I might sign up for it. It wouldn't have helped me with the computer case I just had delivered to the wrong house though. Tracking said it was delivered to my front door, but my eyes and security camera said otherwise. As soon as I was able, I yelled at Amazon, and they shipped a replacement. That day, a neighbor two houses down dropped my original order off. The replacement case arrived yesterday=/

Meh. A real nerd is all about installing the computer components. And then looking into that empty case a few days later and installing the same components in that case. Rinse, repeat.

Kinda like me and installing different android ROM's every week on my Galaxy Nexus few years ago.
