Equifax wants to charge people for credit freezes, because Equifax got hacked and may have compromised information.
Wells Fargo wants customers want to abide by the T&C which state the customers have to go throug arbitration, for accounts they opened without customer consent.

neither were successful, but serious ballsyness if you ask me.

They were not free. They caved starting on Tuesday, only through November 21.
