Old vs new Sim Card - $34 upgrade fee and $50 rebate

So I just bought an S4 for AT&T through WalMart wireless. They had a promotion for a $50 rebate as long as your account was still active on July 15th.

WalMart sends a new simcard installed in the phone, though you have to go to their website to activate it. I still have my sim card for my S3, and I assume if I stick it in the S4, it will work.

Here's my dilemma. If I just use the new sim card, as soon as they activate it, I will be assessed AT&Ts $34 'Activation Fee'. If I use my old Sim card, I don't think I will be charged the $34, but I am unsure if I will still be eligible for the $50 rebate.

Any thoughts?

The rules just say that the line has to be active, not that you have to use a specific SIM. I imagine that they just poll the service provider on July 15th to see if the line is still active and in good standing. WalMart most likely has no idea what SIM you're using.

That said, I'm just guessing. If you want to know for sure, you may want to try contacting WalMart Wireless.
