To bypass activation screen press volume up button, press volume down button, press back button in the lower left corner and press the start button, middle of bottom row. You now have a cheap ipod alternative, with a replaceable battery....

Before I did the above, I press the Activate key; but cancel before it is finished -- there was no wi-fi connection during the process.

Anyway, when I did the above procedure, it did not work.  (I took out the batther and start over; but it didn't help.)

Is there because I pressed the Activate key -- even though it didn't finish?  If yes, is there a way to remedy that and bypass the activation?

TIA

To Bypass Activation - (to use as wifi mini-tablet or whatever)
(NOTE: MUST RESTART PHONE DO NOT TOUCH OR CLICK ANYTHING)
1: Volume Up
2: Volume Down

4: Home Button

Is this a used phone? The bypass may not work if it's already been activated once.

This is a new out of the box phone  -- I opened the sealed box.  But as stated in my original "messsed up" post:

"Before I did the above [procedure], I press the Activate key; but cancel before it is finished -- there was no wi-fi connection during the process.

Anyway, when I did the above procedure, it did not work.  (I took out the battery and start over; it still didn't help.)

Right now, I am stuck on the Activate screen.  It is waiting for me to click Activate.  If I do the bypass procedure above, there is no reaction on the phone; and no error message.

If I do a factory reset, would I have a clean start over and bypass the Activate screen?  If yes, how do I reset?

TIA

If the phone isn't letting you bypass activation, then you can't bypass activation. The bypass trick you found is over 2 years old, so it's possible if it's a newer phone that they removed the bypass in a firmware update.

To factory reset it, while off hold down the power button and volume down key, and keep holding them down until you get to the "Factory Data Reset" screen and choose the "Factory Data Reset" option

Slightly OT.

Activation uses LTE Data, not Wifi.

This is not a newer phone.  Anyway, I have successfully bypass the activation.  Thanks for your help.
