i recently noticed the citi premierpass Expedia credit card and believe it can be a good deal for booking flights. i'd appreciate some help in analyzing the value behind booking long distance flights on the card. the concept i have in mind is layering the fat wallet 5% Cash Back on top of the Expedia rewards points on top of the citi Expedia card thankyou points (2x points per $ spent on Expedia + 1 thankyou point per 3 miles flown on flights you buy on Expedia. let's look at 2 examples:

Flight 1: Thu. Jan. 3
New York Nairobi Brussels, Kigali
JFK 5:15pm NBO 11:35pm +1 day 2 Stops
22h 20m
Brussels Airlines 502
Brussels Airlines 463
Brussels Airlines 463

Flight 2: Wed. Jun. 5
Dublin Las Vegas Washington
DUB 11:20am LAS 10:12pm 1 Stop
18h 52m

Flight 1: Mon. Feb. 4
Nairobi Mumbai Abu Dhabi
NBO 2:35pm BOM 3:15am +1 day 1 Stop
10h 10m
Etihad Airways 642
Etihad Airways 7600 operated by Jet Airways

Flight 2: Tue. Apr. 9
Delhi London Abu Dhabi
DEL 5:00am LHR 1:15pm 1 Stop
12h 45m
Etihad Airways 211
Etihad Airways 19

these are some pretty long range flights per $ and i believe this is the correct math behind thankyou points: (F(fare)*2)+(M(miles flown)/3). here are those points summarized for the two bookings:

$949 booking:
1. 13521 frequent flyer miles http://www.webflyer.com/travel/mileage_calculator/
2. 6405 thankyou points ($949*2)+(13521/3) = $64.05 in value?
3. 474.5 Expedia rewards points = $9.49 in Expedia coupon value?
4. $47.45 for 5% FatWallet Cash Back
= $120.99 + 13521 Miles = 12.749% "cash" back + miles

$566 booking
1. 8190 frequent flyer miles
2. 3862 thankyou points ($566*2)+(8190/3) = $38.62 in value?
3. 283 Expedia rewards points = $5.66 in Expedia coupon value?
4. $28.30 for 5% FatWallet Cash Back
= $72.58 + 8190 Miles = 12.823% "cash" back + miles

will the programs stack like this? did i price everything correctly? is there any more stacking that could be done? seems like 12.7% back plus miles is massive.

i'd like to add that a major draw seems to be that the cardholder earns 1 thank you point per 3 miles flown on a ticket booked on Expedia with the Expedia card whether they are the name on the ticket or not. so if was to convince my a friend or relative to let me book the flights on their behalf and they just pay a check to me for the balance of $1515, then i receive $193.57 in "cash" value back through the combined 3 bonus programs for making the booking. any frequent flyer miles can be earned and claimed by the person on the ticket.

So, you do not get five percent from FW on air tickets from Expedia, you get 1.25 flat per ticket. Read the fine print called Cash Back details.
